Frequently Asked Questions...
Q. Can I purchase products online?
A. Of course! Simply navigate to the products of interest, click and checkout!
Q. What forms of payment do you accept?
A. We accept Visa, MasterCard, checks, money orders or cash. For information on how to pay with check or money order, please refer to our Policies. It is not advised to send cash through the mail.
Q. Do you send product samples?
A. We do attempt to accommodate your requests for samples. Color samples (i.e., foudation, shadows, cheek & lip color) are not as readily available.
Q. What are your shipping rates?
A. We usually ship USPS priority mail (usually 2 - 3 days) unless otherwise noted. If you prefer an alternate postal carrier, please let us know and we will accommodate those needs. Shipping costs are based solely on package weight.
Q. Do you test your products on animals?
A. No, we do not source ingredients or manufactured goods that support animal testing. Our handcrafted products are tested through a community of volunteers.
Q. Do you support fair trade?
A. Our collection sources ingredients from vendors who guarantee fair compensation for raw materials.
Q. There are a lot of companies selling "natural" products; are all of your products “natural”?
A. Products that are manufactured using plants and other like ingredients as opposed to synthetic are often branded “natural”, and this is becoming increasingly popular. It is purported that the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) does not have a standard definition for the term "natural" regarding skincare and cosmetics. A great article from Shape Magazine (April 2008) reports one of the best ways to tell you are getting a natural product is by reading the ingredients. A truly natural product will comprise renewable resources, and not contain synthetic ingredients that may pose possible health risks.
Q. What does "clean as can be" seal approval mean?
A. When you choose sarimotley cosmetics you can be assured that everything you get will have my “clean as can be” seal of approval. That means the ingredient list will be accessible and the finished products will be impressive. Whether I formulate the product myself or find something fabulous elsewhere—I will bring you the best.
In our experience, the greater part of people wearing cosmetics have expectations as to the functionality, longevity and appeal. We chose skin-healthy mineral pigments infused with vitamins and antioxidants that were formulated to protect and correct your skin.
Q. How is this skincare different from conventional or mainstream products?
A. Pure, fresh and real ingredients are so special and important your skin. Think of it this way, skincare is food for your skin. When you feed your body processed and fried foods your body reacts unenthusiastically. When you eat fresh, healthy nourishing food your body is happier. So just like eating right, feed your skin healthfully too, and reap the benefits.
Q. Do you offer custom formulations?
A. If we do not have a product to accommodate your skin's needs, please contact us and we can talk about the specific concerns you want to address.
Q. Do these skincare products have preservatives?
A. Many of our handcrafted products are infused with vitamins, herbs and essential oils that help to extend their freshness. Some of our products contain a preservative system derived from food grade ingredients and natural sources. This preservative system offers a shelf life of one year or more in normal temperature ranges. Freezing temperatures as well as extreme heat (exceeding 72 degrees) should be avoided to protect ingredient potency.
Q. Are these products hypoallergenic?
A. A product might be natural and still cause your skin to react adversely. If you have known allergies to any botanical extracts, plants, etc. you might want to consult with your physician prior to use. It’s also wise to try a patch test on a small area of skin.
Q. Will my skin break out?
A. When transforming your skincare routine from “synthetic” to “natural” breakouts may occur initially. This is because the skin is purging toxins, which is a good sign because the toxins are leaving the skin. This will subside as the skin adjusts, and great skin will triumph.
Q. What is you product packing philosophy?
A. In our effort to be environmentally mindful, we do not use extraneous packaging. Some of our products are packaged in amber glass bottles and jars. These containers were designed to withstand certain levels of UV contamination, making them ideal for protecting natural ingredients. Additionally, many products dispense with pumps and misters to further protect the ingredients, so repeated opening and closing of containers is not necessary.
Q. Do you recycle?
A. Yes. For our local customers/guests, we welcome you to return your empty containers to us and we will recycle them for you. For long distance shoppers it is more cost effective for you to recycle empty containers in your community.
Q. What is your guarantee?
A. Your satisfaction is our primary goal. If for any reason you are not satisfied with your purchase, please contact us directly within 14 days from receipt. We will replace or exchange your product or issue a “store credit" that you may use at your convenience.
Q. Is the Makeup Artistry program exclusive to the Houston, TX area?
A. We can arrange a color consultation over the phone to accommodate your wishes for a new look, seasonal color or cosmetic use tips. The location/travel fees are calculated for the Houston and surrounding area (refer to makeup artistry information for rates). Travel outside of this area will warrant additional fees.
Q. Why should I hire a makeup artist for my wedding?
A. Your wedding day is a highly photographed event. Regrettably, pictures are not always kind to our skin. A makeup artist has the skill to create dimension to accommodate your features creating more flattering and natural contour and provide an awe-inspiring lasting application. When this day has come and gone you’ll want to look back on these photos and see the true you captured radiantly.
Q. Do you only do makeup for brides and bridal party?
A. I do makeup for anyone and any event. Be it black tie, prom, lunch with a friend, update your look or fashion new seasonal appeal, I will create the right look for you. Makeup lessons are also available.
Q. What is your experience doing makeup?
A. I have worked with skincare and cosmetics for over 20 years, professionally for nearly 12. My application training is updated regularly through continuing education, peer reviews and hands-on training. As a freelance makeup artist, I have enhanced the skin of many satisfied clients. References are available upon request.
Q. The skincare is free of parabens & synthetic preservatives, animal products (excluding bee), genetically modified organisms (GMO’s) and artificial color & fragrance. What about the cosmetics?
A. Just like healthy food to nourish your body, we provide healthy skincare to nourish your skin. Cosmetics are like an accessory for beautifully cared for skin - fashion for your face if you will. In our experience, the greater part of people wearing cosmetics have expectations as to the functionality, longevity and appeal. We chose skin-healthy mineral pigments infused with vitamins and antioxidants that were formulated to protect and correct your skin.
